Base, Mid, and Shell

The triangle of Base, Mid, and Shell defines the three-layer clothing system, designed to keep you warm, dry, and comfortable in any weather or activity. Each layer serves a unique purpose to regulate body temperature and protect against the elements.
Base Layer: The base layer sits closest to the skin, wicking moisture away to prevent sweat buildup, which can lead to dangerous cooling in cold weather. A mesh base layer traps warm air in insulation pockets, offering lightweight warmth and breathability.
Mid Layer: The mid layer provides insulation by retaining heat. It acts as the primary warmth layer, often made from materials like fleece or down, offering flexibility depending on the activity level and temperature.
Shell Layer: The shell layer protects against external elements such as wind, rain, or snow. It’s typically waterproof and breathable to keep you dry while allowing moisture to escape.
Balancing base, mid, and shell ensures safety, comfort, and adaptability in changing conditions.
