The Triangle of Hypnosis

Absorption, Dissociation, and Suggestibility

Neon green triangle labeled "Absorption", "Dissociation", "Suggestibility" on black. Title: "The Triangle of Hypnosis". Text: "ThinkinginTriangles.com".

The triangle of Absorption, Dissociation, and Suggestibility represents the three core components of hypnosis, each contributing to the altered state of consciousness that enables profound focus and change.

  1. Absorption: Absorption involves deep mental engagement and focus on a particular thought, image, or sensation. It allows individuals to immerse themselves fully in the hypnotic experience, tuning out distractions and intensifying concentration.

  2. Dissociation: Dissociation is the ability to separate from ordinary awareness. It creates a sense of detachment, allowing individuals to disconnect from their usual thoughts, behaviors, or perceptions and focus on new mental frameworks. This shift facilitates access to the subconscious mind.

  3. Suggestibility: Suggestibility is the heightened openness to accepting guidance, ideas, or instructions during hypnosis. In this state, the mind is more receptive to positive changes or behavioral adjustments.

Balancing absorption, dissociation, and suggestibility enables hypnosis to be an effective tool for relaxation, focus, and personal transformation.
